Weight-optimized intermediate plate for improved accessibility on 5-axis machines. On 5-axis milling centers, it is advantageous to work with small clamping devices. These provide optimal accessibility from all five sides. However, standard clamping devices on the market offer only a very low profile. As a result, the machine's potential cannot be fully utilized due to long, unstable tool holders (tool vibration and insufficient surface finish). Our intermediate plates increase the distance between the clamping device and the machine table by the required amount. This allows the clamping device to be accessed with shorter tools. Consequently, the stability and thus the productivity of the machine are increased. The weight-optimized version was developed in 2023 because, due to the low payload capacity of robot automation, the weight of parts is significantly reduced by solid material intermediate plates.
